Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children

Forthcoming country visit to Italy 

The Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children will conduct an official country visit to Italy between 12 to 20 September 2013. The Special Rapporteur will aim to examine and assess the phenomenon of trafficking in persons, especially women and children, in Italy by meeting relevant government, legislative and judicial authorities and officials; national institutions, civil society organizations, academics, individuals involved in the combat against trafficking in persons, as well as victims of trafficking and/or their representatives. 

With regard to the visit, we would appreciate receiving any information by 30 July 2013 relating to:
  • Recent studies and surveys made on the issues relating to trafficking in persons, especially women and children in Italy
  • Information and data on key trends and issues of trafficking in persons in Italy
  • Key issues and challenges faced in the combat against human trafficking including those related to the existing legal, policy and institutional framework on human trafficking
  • Information on services, initiatives or projects run by State or civil society organizations to prevent trafficking, assist and support victims of trafficking( for example, shelter, medical and legal assistance)
  • Information you may have on concrete cases related to actual or potential victims of trafficking
  • Suggestions on relevant State and non-State actors that the Special Rapporteur could meet
  • Suggestions on relevant places or sites that the Special Rapporteur could visit
  • Any other pertinent info that you consider to be relevant
